Britam Asset Managers has launched two special funds offering Kenyan investors access to global equities and a wider mix of local and international assets.
The Britam Enhanced Global Equities Special Fund and Britam Multi Asset Special Fund were approved by the Capital Markets Authority in August and target investors seeking long-term growth and broader diversification beyond Kenya’s markets.
The launch comes as assets under collective investment schemes in Kenya rose 59.1% year-on-year to Ksh 948.7 billion in June.
Britam Asset Managers, which manages more than Ksh 300 billion, is among the five largest asset managers in Kenya and leads the fixed-income category with more than Ksh 55 billion under management as of July.
The global equities fund will invest in international companies and sectors including technology and artificial intelligence, healthcare, energy and the digital economy, while the multi-asset fund will combine equities, fixed income and commodities in a single portfolio.
“Every day, Africans participate in the global economy as consumers, businesses and users of technology created around the world. We believe they should also have the opportunity to become investors in the companies driving that economy,” says Britam Group CEO Tom Gitogo.
Britam Asset Managers CEO Barack Obatsa said the funds would offer Kenyan investors exposure to global markets and different asset classes.
