The Kenya Forest Service has approved the cutting of exotic tree species from Karura Forest.
The parastatal says the exotic trees that are mature will be cut over a period of four years.
“According to the PFMP [Karura Forest Participatory Forest Management Plan], Karura Forest being an urban recreational forest is to be reverted back to a purely indigenous forest through phased removal of exotic plantation tree species (Eucalyptus and Cypress),” says the Kenya Forest Service.
