Internet advertising market in Kenya is forecast to nearly double to $603 million by 2030, making it the world’s fastest-growing digital advertising market as mobile-first consumers and short-form video reshape the country’s media landscape
This is according to the latest PwC Africa Entertainment and Media Outlook 2026–2030 report that projects Kenya’s internet advertising revenue will rise from $313 million in 2025, growing at an annual rate of 14%, almost twice the global forecast of 7.2%.
The report attributes the growth to expanding digital audiences, strong mobile connectivity and rising engagement with social media platforms and connected televisions, creating new opportunities for advertisers to reach consumers.
Video internet advertising in Kenya is expected to grow at an annual rate of 18.2% through 2030, reflecting the increasing importance of video-led content and changing consumer habits.
PwC Kenya, entertainment and media partner, Michael Mugasa says the combination of connectivity, digital engagement and a mobile-first economy offered significant growth potential, but businesses needed to translate online participation into commercial value.
“As digital advertising evolves, businesses that understand their audiences, use data responsibly, and demonstrate meaningful outcomes will be best placed to capture the opportunities ahead,” says Mugasa.
The report indicates that the broader entertainment and media market in Kenya is forecast to grow at an annual rate of 5%, reaching $6 billion by 2030.
Kenya is also among the world’s three fastest-growing over-the-top video markets, with streaming revenue projected to expand at an annual rate of 15.9%, compared with global growth of 6.1%.
The report forecasts 5G subscription penetration in Kenya will reach 51.6% by 2030, while improvements in broadband connectivity are expected to support demand for streaming, gaming and other data-intensive services.
Across Africa, the report highlights differing growth patterns in major markets. Nigeria’s entertainment and media industry is forecast to grow by 6.9% annually to $5.3 billion by 2030, while South Africa remains the largest market, with revenue projected to reach $19.4 billion.
PwC Africa Entertainment and Media Leader Charles Stuart said technology was creating new ways for audiences to connect, but lasting industry growth would depend on compelling content, creativity, culture and shared experiences.
The report indicates that businesses would increasingly need to combine digital innovation with trusted relationships and a deeper understanding of audiences as artificial intelligence and new technologies reshape how content is created, distributed and monetised.
