Vivo Energy Kenya handled 1.5 billion litres of fuel through the pipeline network in the 2025/26 financial year, earning the company the Kenya Pipeline Company’s (KPC) Highest Throughput Performer Award for the fourth consecutive year.

The company, which markets Shell-branded fuels and lubricants in Kenya, accounted for 15% of the total petroleum volumes evacuated by oil marketing companies through the pipeline, underscoring its role in the country’s fuel distribution chain.

The award was presented during KPC’s annual oil marketing company recognition ceremony held as part of the 2026 Customer Service Week celebrations, which highlighted the link between efficient fuel distribution and reliable service to consumers.

Vivo Energy Business Support and Planning Manager Paul Kamau thanked KPC for the recognition, saying the partnership had helped the company expand its operations and improve customer service.

“Our expansive network relies heavily on these infrastructure efficiencies to drive innovation, uphold a rigorous quality focus, and deliver customer-centric value to Kenyan motorists every single day,” said Kamau.

KPC Acting Managing Director Pius Mwendwa says higher fuel volumes moving through the pipeline were important in supporting economic growth, energy security and regional trade.

“Increasing volumes of fuel consumption handled through our pipeline network are vital to support robust national economic growth,” said Mwendwa.

The KPC awards, now in their fourth year, recognise oil marketers for efficient use of the country’s petroleum infrastructure, with throughput measuring the volume of fuel transported through a facility over a given period.

As part of the celebrations, the two companies also provided free fuel top-ups to 100 motorists and motorcycle taxi operators at a Shell station on Ngong Road in Nairobi.
