Tankers ferrying 21,000 tonnes of Shell V-Power dock in Mombasa

Seven merchant tankers are calling at the Port of Mombasa this week to discharge petroleum products and other cargoes, including more than 21,000 metric tonnes of Shell V-Power petrol, according to the Kenya Ports Authority’s shipping schedule.

The medium-range tanker M.T. Bellatrix was scheduled to discharge the premium fuel at the Shimanzi Oil Terminal on Tuesday, while other vessels are carrying diesel, petrol, base oil and palm oil.

The schedule lists M.T. Torm Sublime and M.T. Maria for discharge of gasoil cargoes of 85,000 tonnes and 40,000 tonnes respectively at Kipevu Oil Terminal II, alongside M.T. Pis Rinjani, which is carrying 85,000 tonnes of petrol.

M.T. Bow Lynx is scheduled to discharge 4,900 tonnes of base oil at Shimanzi, while M.T. Arctic Tern and Melati 3 are expected to deliver palm oil cargoes.

Vivo Energy Kenya, which exclusively imports and distributes Shell V-Power in the country, stores the fuel at its Mombasa terminal before transporting it inland to Shell service stations, including by rail tankers to Nairobi.
