Samsung Electronics East Africa has unveiled its Galaxy Tab S12 series, promising faster performance, longer battery life and expanded artificial intelligence features in a thinner tablet design aimed at professionals, students and creatives.
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and S12+ feature Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays, bundled S Pens and support for multitasking across up to three windows, allowing users to combine activities such as note-taking, video lessons and AI assistance on the same screen.
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra has a price tag of Ksh 203,200 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage version, while the Galaxy Tab S12+ starts at Ksh 176,000 with the same memory and storage configuration.
Samsung says the Ultra model is its thinnest Galaxy Tab at 5.1mm, while its battery can provide up to 23 hours of use on a single charge, with the S12+ offering up to 21 hours.
The tablets use a 3nm processor that Samsung says delivers up to 61% faster NPU processing, 19% faster CPU performance and 17% improved GPU performance than the previous-generation Tab S11 Ultra, alongside a redesigned cooling system for demanding tasks.
Both models run Android 17 with One UI 9 and include Galaxy AI features, while buyers receive a six-month trial of Google AI Pro and access to tools such as Gemini Notebook for organising notes, files and other information.
For creators, Photoshop comes pre-installed for the first time on an Android tablet, with the S Pen supporting image editing and design work, while other productivity and creative applications include Notability, Goodnotes, LumaFusion and Clip Studio Paint.
Samsung offering up to seven generations of operating system upgrades and security updates for the Galaxy Tab S12 series.
My previous device struggled with multitasking when running multiple applications simultaneously. This specific hardware upgrade might not solve that core limitation for some users.
