Canaan Developers is targeting Nairobi’s premium residential market with Aura Peponi, a boutique housing development in the Peponi neighbourhood that combines duplex apartments, lifestyle amenities and proximity to key commercial and institutional centres.
The project offers one- and two-bedroom duplexes starting at 676 square feet, with living areas on the ground floor and bedrooms on the upper level. The design uses double-height living rooms and floor-to-ceiling windows to maximise natural light and views of the surrounding greenery and residential neighbourhood.
Located within the Peponi, General Mathenge and Spring Valley corridor, the development is close to Karura Forest, international schools, embassies, Westlands’ commercial district and the United Nations Blue Zone.
Canaan Developers, Head of Business, Yohhanes Kidane says the project is aimed at buyers who prioritise location, privacy and residential finishes, as well as investors seeking tenants in established neighbourhoods.
“When we were building, we had a live, work, eat, play, shop paradigm in mind,” say Kidane.
He said the duplex format was intended to create a distinction between living and sleeping spaces while making the most of vertical space.
“We are not selling just space. We are selling space that behaves differently and enhances the experience of a duplex,” says Kidane.
The development extends its lifestyle offering beyond individual apartments, with a rooftop heated swimming pool, gym, landscaped terraces, residents’ lounge and media lounge.
A ground-floor retail section is planned to accommodate cafes, health and beauty services and a mini-market, allowing residents to access some everyday services within the development.
The building will also have borehole water, a backup generator, high-speed lifts, internet connectivity, video intercom, electric fencing and manned security.
The project reflects a broader shift in Nairobi’s higher-end housing market towards developments that combine residential space with amenities and services, as buyers increasingly consider convenience and lifestyle alongside location.
Canaan is positioning Aura Peponi as a limited collection with a relatively small number of residents, targeting both owner-occupiers and investors seeking to attract tenants drawn to the area’s established residential character.
