Absa Bank Kenya has opened its second mall-based Sales & Service Pod in Mombasa, expanding its physical reach as lenders adopt more flexible service models to complement digital banking.
The facility at Nyali Bazaar Mall allows customers to open accounts, obtain instant debit and prepaid cards, activate digital banking and access financial advice during mall trading hours, extending access beyond conventional branch schedules.
Absa Bank Kenya, Customer Network & Distribution Director, Peter Mutua says the model combines digital convenience with personalised support, reflecting continued demand for physical banking services alongside online channels.
“While digital channels offer speed and convenience, physical presence remains important in building trust and providing personalised financial support,” says Mutua.
The Nyali outlet follows the bank’s first Sales & Service Pod at The Junction Mall in Nairobi, with Absa planning further rollouts in high-traffic locations across the country.
“The future of banking is about meeting customers where they are. This model helps us strengthen customer relationships, enhance financial access, and deliver the flexibility that today’s customers expect,” said Mutua.
