The Old Starehian Society plans to host its 10th Annual Golf Tournament on 27th September 2024, at Limuru Country Club. Over 200 players, including Old Boys and other supporters from the wider community, are expected to participate.
This year’s event holds special significance as it forms part of the celebrations marking 65 years of Starehe Boys’ Centre, a milestone that reflects the institution’s enduring impact on the lives of thousands of young Kenyans.
The tournament aims to raise funds for the Griffin Memorial Endowment Trust (GMET), which supports the education of bright, deserving students. This year’s fundraising target of Kshs 6.5 million will sponsor the secondary education of six students: four boys at Starehe Boys Centre and two girls at Starehe Girls Centre. A portion of the funds will also contribute to the GMET endowment fund, ensuring the continuity of this vital initiative.
Old Starehian Society, Golf Captain, David Nyaga, says: “We are excited to host our 10th annual golf tournament and bring together Old Starehians and supporters for a great cause. This Tournament is a testament to the unwavering commitment of our alumni and supporters to ensuring that every deserving student has access to quality education. We are proud to continue this legacy of giving back.
“The Old Starehian Society Golf Tournament has grown into more than just a sporting event. It has become a powerful platform for alumni and friends to come together and make a lasting impact on the education of underprivileged students.”
The event has become a celebrated fixture in the society’s golfing calendar, bringing together alumni and supporters for a day of camaraderie, competition, and philanthropy.
