MultiChoice Kenya says the latest increase in monthly subscription rates for some DStv and GOtv bouquets effective from October 2024 is as a result of higher cost of local content.
Quality local content and LIVE sporting events are among the top reasons for Kenyans subscribing for DStvand GOtv services.
However, the cost of LIVE sports events and quality local content has increased in recent years.
MultiChoice Kenya in a statement therefore says the latest hike in subscriptions “has been occasioned by the significant investments in providing value in local content across the business in DStv, GOtv and Showmax.”
MultiChoice Kenya which offers subscription-based content on DStv, GOtv and Showmax, says its “has endeavoured to keep the increase [in monthly subscription rates] at the lowest possible point while ensuring sustainability and provision of quality services.”
The statement comes after MultiChoice Kenya announced plans to increase subscription rates for some DStv and GOtv bouquets effective next month, coming after another hike was effected in April 2024.
