The government has issued an advisory to Kenyans in Lebanon to leave or contact Kenyan officials to facilitate their evacuation from Lebanon.
Kenya joins a number of countries such as the U.S, the UK, France, Sweden, Jordan, Italy and Canada who have advised their citizens to leave Lebanon on fears of conflict in the Middle East after Iran vowed severe retaliation against Israel, which it blames for the death of Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran last Wednesday.
Countries fear that Hezbollah, an Iran-backed militia and political movement based in Lebanon, could play a key role in any such retaliation, which in turn could spark an Israeli response.
