Former Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama is challenging football coaches at the grassroots level to do more in ensuring that they help develop young talents to higher levels.
Wanyama says football coaches should not limit their guidance of upcoming talents on the pitch, but also offer guidance off the pitch about life.
“The grassroots coaches have a task to do to help and guide the players on what they need to do and what they need to avoid. Developing a player is a collective effort and that needs to start at this grassroots level,” he said.
The former Harambee Stars skipper made the remarks during the launch of a three-day football extravaganza that will take place from November 30, 2023, to December 02, 2023, at the Police Sacco Stadium. The tournament targets to promote community engagement and nurture budding talent within the sport.
