Those addicted to alcohol, drugs and substance will be prioritised under the first cohort of the recruits in the proposed Machakos Youth Service program.
Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti says “positive discrimination” will be applied in selecting youth who have been severely addicted to alcohol, drugs and substance to help them out of the vagaries of hopelessness.
Speaking during a public participation forum on the proposed amendments to the Machakos Youth Empowerment Act, 2022, at Kisukioni DCC’s office grounds in Matungulu Sub-County, Wavinya said: “We will apply a positive discrimination approach by giving the first priority to our youths that have been weighed down by chronic drugs and substance abuse and roaming in the markets and urban centres.”
