Why AC Milan v Juventus is the match of the week

AC Milan and Juventus will face off in a potential thriller in Serie A on the evening of Saturday 23 November 2024, with the clash set for the iconic San Siro Stadium.

Match background

Both teams are in a stage of evolution under their managers – Paulo Fonseca for Milan and Thiago Motta for Juventus – and this match is set to be a further test of the progression for each.

What the teams are saying

AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders on his preferred role: “I’m a box-to-box player, I move from one position into another. I’ve played in all the midfield roles. Number eight is my ideal role, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t play as a six or a 10, it’s not a problem for me. It’s Mr. [manager Paulo] Fonseca who decides where he needs me.”

Motta prefers performance over aesthetics: “I want to see the performance, and it leads you to the result. I never wanted the performance for aesthetics. I blindly believe that teams that play well have a greater chance of winning.”

Players to watch

Samuel Chukwueze, AC Milan

The Nigerian winger has found a new lease on life at Milan under Paulo Fonseca, though he needs to produce more end product to fully realise his potential.

This clash against Juventus presents a great chance for Chukwueze to become a cult hero with the Rossoneri.

Dusan Vlahovic, Juventus

The Serbian striker seems to be enjoying Juventus’ style of play under Thiago Motta much more compared to past seasons, and the goals have begun to flow.

Vlahovic will look to fire the Bianconeri to another win at the San Siro.

Head-to-head

AC Milan and Juventus have met in 241 matches across all competitions.
