StanChart marathon Nairobi holds warm up race at Tatu City

The 21st edition of Standard Chartered Marathon Nairobi is targeting 23,000 participants among them elite athletes.

According to Peter Gitau, the chairperson of the local organizing committee of the Standard Chartered Nairobi, this year’s activity which is slated to be held on October 27, 2024 will target more professional racers.

Speaking at Tatu City in Ruiru, Kiambu County during the official warm-up run ahead of the main event, Gitaurevealed that this year’s marathon seeks to raise Kshs 46 million which will go to talent development and social-economic empowerment of youngster and differently abled persons.

Tatu City, Executive Vice President, Solomon Mahinda, said such warm-up runs will be happening at the special economic zone every year to not only nurture talents but also create awareness on matters fitness and physical health.

During the warm-up run event, runners participated in 5km, 10km, and 21km races.

The event featured a variety of entertainment, including live music performances by top Kenyan artists, a kid’s zone with fun activities, and a food and drinks area offering a wide range of refreshments.

Winners at all the categories took home various forms of prizes ranging from the event’s Platinum sponsor Dr. Mattress.
