One of the unique facets to savour at the forthcoming 14th Edition of East Africa Community Inter-Parliamentary Games (EAC-IPG) to be held in Mombasa County from 6th to 18th December 2024, is the newly refurbished KPA Mbaraki Stadium which will offer competitors a scintillating new Tartan track experience.
The only one of its kind in Mombasa, will see track and field athletes compete on an Olympic standard Tartan track similar to what Nyayo National Stadium and Moi Sports Centre, Kasarani can offer.
The completion of renovations at Mbaraki coincides with Saturday’s opening ceremony.
Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir inspected the KPA Mbaraki Stadium which will be one of the main venues for the forthcoming games.
Among the sponsors for the event are The Pan African Sports investment Mchezo Limited who have provided various playing kits to the EALA team consisting of its Members of Parliament and assisted the host country Kenya in preparing some of the venues in readiness for the event.
Shanzu Teachers Training College grounds will host football, athletics and tug of war.
Aga Khan Academy will host netball, volleyball, basketball and darts for Persons with Disability (PWD)
The opening ceremony for the games will be marked with a procession from the Office of Mombasa Governor to Mama Ngina Waterfront where speeches will be delivered.
Rwanda, South Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania, the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) and the host Kenya will participate in the event.
Among the sports that will be played include; golf, football, athletics, tug of war, netball, volleyball, basketball and darts for PWDs.
Nyali Golf and Country Club will host golf while KPA Makupa will.be the venue for basketball.
