New role performed by Prof. Kindiki at Mashujaa Day celebration

Internal Security Cabinet Secretary Prof. Kithure Kindiki who was on Friday nominated as the Deputy President and approved by parliament, on Sunday performed the role of officially welcoming and escorting President William Ruto from the military chopper after landing in Kwale for the celebration.

Photos showed Prof. Kindiki welcoming President Ruto who was accompanied by First Lady Rachel Ruto, having a chat with the Head of State before they walked off to a waiting vehicle.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi also performed a new role of inviting the President to address the nation. This is normally a role reserved for the Deputy President.

Rigathi Gachagua who whose impeachment by the National Assembly was confirmed by the Senate on Thursday, has moved to court to challenge the process, with the court slated to hear the matter on Tuesday.
