Moringa School rolls out digital economy skill training

The County Government of Nairobi and Moringa School signed a partnership aimed at providing free introductory digital skills training to Nairobi youths.

The program’s aim was to stimulate an interest in STEM, equip young people with the skills they need to succeed in the digital age and place tech talent into income generating opportunities.

Through this collaboration, Moringa School was able to train141 beneficiaries 95 Male and 56 female, who were enrolled for the program.

The topics covered were introduction to computer programs, email etiquette and how the internet works, learning how to learn, project ideation and presentation, introduction to the terminal and operating systems, introduction to development tools and editors, file navigation and system tools, introduction to HTML, recap of terminal operations in Ubuntu and HTML deep dive.

The County Government of Nairobi and Moringa School aim to bridge this gap to ensure that more young people in the city have the opportunity to develop the skills they need to succeed in the digital economy.

The free digital skills training program is still available to youths aged between 18 and 30 and participants will have access to experienced trainers from Moringa School, who provide hands-on training and mentorship to help build their skills and confidence in the digital field.

Moringa School, CEO, Snehar Shah, said: “This partnership with the County Government of Nairobi is in line with our mission at Moringa School to empower people with the skills and confidence they need to succeed in this digital age, we want to reach as many young people in Nairobi as we can and give them an introduction to this fourth industrial revolution.

The program now enters its second phase set to continue later this year and interested participants can apply online through the Moringa School website.
