The Kenya Institute of Planners (KIP) has toured Konza Technopolis and expressed their satisfaction with the progress made in transforming the smart city into a reality.

Construction of the first phase of Konza Technopolis involved the setting up of the horizontal physical infrastructure which is now 97% complete. It includes roads, walk ways, installation of street lights, construction of underground utility tunnels that carry all the electric power and fibre optic cables.

“As planners we are very happy to see the progress made, the actualization of the physical planning dream into reality,” KIP, Secretary, Mildred Ambani, said when he led a delegation of the planners for a familiarization tour.

Konza Technopolis has so far onboarded more than 100 investors cutting across the various business sectors.

“We are delighted to host you as a professional institute where we expect to tap into your vast knowledge to make our Silicon Savannah master plan to be a reality.

“We are happy to note that we are on the tail end of phase 1 which entailed the laying of horizontal infrastructure and we expect our investors will be engaging you to provide them with technical support in the execution of their projects,” Konza Technopolis, Chief Manager in charge of Planning, Design and Environment, Arch Annah Musyimi, said.
