The High Court has ordered that a case challenging the impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua as Deputy President be heard on Tuesday.
Lady Justice Dr. Freda Mugambi on Saturday certified the matter as urgent and directed that “the application be served and responded to forthwith, for hearing inter-parties on Tuesday 22nd October 2024 at 11.00 a.m.”
The ruling comes a day after President William Ruto nominated Internal Security Cabinet Secretary Prof. Kithure Kindiki and forwarded his name to the National Assembly who debated and approved him to take over from Gachagua.
This comes after Gachagua fell sick on Thursday afternoon and was admitted at a Nairobi hotel amid his impeachment proceedings in the Senate.
