Kenya roots for enhanced vaccine manufacturing in Africa

Kenya is leading efforts in rallying support for the manufacturing of human vaccines and health products across the continent.

This was the key message by Medical Services, Principal Secretary, Harry Kimtai at the 1st Manufacturers Marketplace meeting for African Union member states being held in Morocco.

At the session, Kimtai engaged in discussions with, among others, Dr. Jean Kaseya, the Director-General of Africa CDC who expressed the commitment of his organization to accelerate African Vaccine Manufacturing and the production of other essential health products.

In Kenya, local manufacturing, including vaccines and Health Products and Technologies (HPTs), is a pivotal economic pillar of our administration. It will significantly contribute to achieving universal health coverage by ensuring the availability of safe, effective, high-quality, and affordable HPTs,” said Kimtai.
