KCAA approves Polish firm to build drone making firm at Konza City

Farada Group, a Polish manufacturer of Unmanned aerial spacecraft (UAS), commonly known as drones are set to establish a drone manufacturing company in Kenya.

Farada Group is expected to make various types of drones that are used for surveillance of wildlife, power lines, monitoring disasters such as floods, wild fire and delivery of goods such as medical products and other goods.

Speaking during the company’s display and demonstration of its drones to various potential customers at Konza Technopolis, Farada Group, Chairman, Adam Cudny says his had obtained all necessary regulatory approvals from the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) to operate their drones in the country.

“We have all the necessary approvals and we have established a local company to implement the project,” said Cudny.

Farada Group is a manufacturer, operator and integrator of drones.

“We intend to take up a parcel of land here at Konza Technopolis to establish a drone manufacturing company for Kenya and the whole of Africa,” Cudny said.

Konza Technopolis has designated a drone zone for the assembly and operations of drones.

In February this year, the Poland President paid a state visit to Kenya and Farada Group offered to donate a drone to the Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) to support surveillance of national parks.

“We have kept our promise and delivered to KWS the drone that we committed to when we accompanied our President during his state visit to Kenya,” Farada Group, Chief Operating Officer, Joanna Rutkowski, said.

According to Joanna, Farada is targeting to have its drones support Kenya Power and KETRACO enhance surveillance of the national grid. The drones are also expected to enhance medical supplies in counties as well as support logistical companies fasten the process of delivery of goods.

Each of Farada Group‘s drones has capacity to carry up to 1 tone.
