Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has trained his guns on Members of Parliament plotting his impeachment motion telling them to keep off matters in the Executive arm of government.
Gachagua who on Saturday toured the counties of Kirinyaga, Embu and Meru asked his political rivals and detractors to allow him to perform his duties and stop intimidating him.
The Deputy President who has in recent days faced threats of being ousted by parliamentarians through impeachment, says he will not give in to intimidation aimed at forcing him to resign.
Reports indicate an impeachment motion against Gachagua has been signed and endorsed by more than the threshold of one third of MPs and could be tabled in parliament as early as next week.
“We are asking our detractors to allow us to work for Kenyans. Leave me alone. Let us work for Kenyans and stop the high temperature politics. We were given a five-year contract by Kenyans. There are many stalled projects that need attention and completion,” said Gachagua.
He fought back telling Members of the National Assembly and Senators that he said are unjustifiably criticizing him, to work towards initiating pieces of legislation that will improve public welfare.
“MPs should do their work on legislation and stop interfering with the Executive. They should concentrate on passing of laws that will benefit people not politics,” Gachagua said.
