How Ziara Kenya initiative will benefit the Kenyan businesses

The Ziara-Kenya initiative is expected to enhance and bring into one-fold tourism campaigns that the private sector has been undertaking to lure the Kenyans in diaspora to promote their motherland.

While lauding the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) for starting the Ziara-Kenya initiative, Bonfire Ventures Managing Director Simon Kabu said the tourism and travel industry are relying on KTB’s market intelligence to guide their individual promotional packages to attract visitation in Kenya.

In a bid to ensure an excellent visitor experience, the campaign will onboard institutions like the Kenya Utalii College and other training institutions that train professionals in the hospitality sector.

“Our objective is on creating exceptional guest experiences, as KTB believes that positive experiences are the most powerful referrals,” said Kenya Tourism Board CEO June Chepkemei.

The ‘Ziara Kenya: One Diaspora, One Tourist’ campaign seeks to leverage over 3 million Kenyans in the diaspora to market their motherland through their networks within the host countries.

The initiative is expected to more than double tourist arrivals from the current 1.9 million annually to 5 million by 2027.

“Kenya has 66 missions abroad which represent our country. This existing infrastructure provides an ideal platform to position Kenya as the most attractive destination for international travelers,” Chepkemei said.
