Long before the Sacco dividends were disbursed to his account, Ronald Otundo had made the decision to use the cash to buy a phone. Even though he had been tracking his preferred smartphone for weeks, Otundo could not risk snapping it up during the preorder period.
Patiently, he waited for the cash to be credited to his account. This happened early in February.
Armed with his Sacco Link ATM card, Otundo rushed to his OPPO branded shop to make the purchase.
His desire was to get the latest Reno series in place of the OPPO Reno6 5G that he has had since September 2021. “You know technology has really changed since my Reno6 was made. I had planned to buy the Reno10 Pro, but by the time it was being launched in September last year, I was not in a position, financially, to buy it,” Otundo said.
He says missing out on the Reno10 Pro that was priced at Kshs 69,999 was painful. He therefore decided to use the proceeds of his Sacco dividends to finance the Reno11.
“Even though my target was to buy the [Reno11] Pro series, I’m happy to have bought the Reno11. You know, my budget was around Kshs 75,000 that was enough for the Reno11. I had thought that the [Reno11] Pro would cost around that amount based on the pricing of the Reno10 Pro,” Otundo said.
The Reno11 (5000mAh) has a larger battery when compared to the Reno11Pro (4600mAh). The handset features 67W SUPERVOOCTM Flash Charging offering you a 33% battery charge in just 10 minutes. To fully charge this 5G device, all you need is just 45 minutes.
“The one thing I like about the Reno11 is its camera. The [main] camera which comprises a 50MP wide lens, 32MP telephoto lens and an 8MP ultrawide lens, takes crisp clear 4k pictures,” he said.
Reno11 captures 4K ultra-clear video from both the main camera and 32MP selfie camera, enabling you to record, vlog, post and express yourself without sacrificing on quality.
“With OPPO’s Ultra-Clear Portrait Camera System, Reno11 captures studio-grade portrait photography. Reno11 combines advanced portrait algorithm with its pro-grade Portrait Mode to capture natural-looking portraits at either 1x or 2x zoom with incredible subject, object, and edge separation,” says OPPO Kenya, PR Manager, Fredrique Achieng.
The other consideration was the color of the device. “The color choice was straight forward for me. I went for the Wave Green,” said Otundo when we asked about his choice between the Wave Green and Rock Grey color options.
A closer look reveals that the Rock Grey reveals layers of bright and soft silver-grey glitter when held up to the light. This is inspired by the OPPO Glow, which highlights tiny sparkling crystals to create a finish that not only sparkles, but also appears soft and smooth.
What’s more? You have the option of cracking up the volume of the audio tracks using the Reno11’s Ultra Volume Mode, which offers 300% volume from the dual stereo loudspeakers.
Reno11 also boosts in-call volume by up to 200% for easy-to-hear conversations.
In addition, OPPO has developed a network optimisation engine, LinkBoost, which helps it achieve up to 100% higher signal transmission and 44% stronger reception than competitor devices. This comes in handy especially when one is in areas with poor network coverage.
According to OPPO, LinkBoost combines AI network selection and a 360-degree surround antenna design for the most stable signal possible with minimum downtime.
