How Kenyan government handled political protests

“We want to tell the Opposition that elections are over. No matter how many demonstrations they’ll do, William Ruto remains the legally elected President until 2027,” said Gachagua.

He praised police for protecting people’s lives and property, saying those who interrupt peace being enjoyed by Kenyans will not be spared.

National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wa and his Senate counterpart Aaron Cheruiyot said law and order must prevail in the country at all times.

Ichung’wa said it was unfair for some people to criticise the work of police, yet they have done their best to protect lives and property from hooligans.

He asked police to launch investigations to establish armed criminals who penetrated the demonstrations to cause mayhem.

“Police should not relent in their work of protecting people’s lives and property. We will not allow anyone to intimidate our police officers,” said Ichung’wa.

Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata praised the national government for initiating projects, which have direct impact on the lives of Kenyans.

“The Government is fully in charge of this country.  We are not bothered by the ongoing demonstrations because we’ve many issues to solve,” said Nyoro.
