How first batch of Huawei 150K Series C&I Inverter sold out

Huawei Digital Power East Africa has unveiled its latest innovation in the commercial and industrial (C&I) solar market, the 150K series inverter. Huawei Digital Power Sub-Saharan Africa Region, President, Xia Hesheng, says the inverter is part Huawei’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge, reliable, and efficient solar solutions for the African market.

Xia says PV and ESS demand in Africa is growing rapidly, thanks to price reductions of commodities in the PV value chain and rising cost of grid electricity.

“With the decline of photovoltaic costs and technological innovation, we welcome the arrival of ‘photovoltaic storage parity’. Now the photovoltaic + energy storage option will become the most economical energy source. As the brain of the PV system, the inverter plays a key role in driving 95% of the value with 15% of the investment,” he says.

Xia told business owners should be aware that “the return-on-investment time for a PV and ESS system has reduced significantly and there has never been a better time to invest in solar and batteries.”

Ten years of innovation: Huawei’s C&I smart PV journey

From its first-generation IP65-rated inverters in 2013 to the latest all-round C&I Smart PV solution, Huawei has consistently pushed the boundaries of innovation.

“Our C&I Smart PV solution has evolved from a simple inverter to a comprehensive system, incorporating cloud-based management, advanced connectivity, and intelligent features. This evolution has been driven by our commitment to providing our customers with the most reliable, efficient, and safe solar solutions,” said Xia.

The 150K series

Huawei Digital Power Eastern-Africa, Vice President, Nick Lusson, says the three major challenges being faced globally for C&I photovoltaics (PV) are related to; safety, environment and operation.

“The 150K series (SUN2000-150K-MG0 & SUN5000-150K-MG0) inverters, are built on Huawei’s new V6 platform, is a high-power C&I inverter designed to deliver exceptional performance and reliability. With a rated output power of 150 kW and a maximum power of 165 kW,” said Lusson.

Key features of the 150K series:

Increased Power Generation: 98.8% maximum efficiency, built-in PID recovery solution for 3% energy yield improvement, and high dynamic MPPT efficiency of 99.839%, ensuring that your business enjoys ultimate energy efficiency.

Active Safety: Industry-leading safety features including Smart String-Level Disconnect (SSLD), Intelligent PV Ground-Fault Protection, Smart Connector-Level Detection (SCLD), and active arc extinguishing for fire prevention. These multi-level active safety features protect your equipment and also your business – providing peace of mind.

Long-Term Reliability: Rigorous development and testing processes, including 1400 tests and 21 special tests, ensure a long service life of 25 years with 99.999% availability – Future proofing your investment and your business.

Smartest O&M: Module-level insulation detection for precise fault identification and reduced troubleshooting time make operations and maintenance efficient, cutting down on time and manpower required.

Optimized Balance of System (BOS): The 150K series inverters uses MBUS PLC communication to reduce data cable costs, and in turn installation costs while the SmartDesign program makes for one-stop automatic design, comprehensive analysis, and optimal design solutions for your PV module layouts.

Grid-Friendly: Grid adaptation with intelligent reactive power compensation and harmonic algorithm prevent energy yield losses. Compatibility with PV+ESS solutions for peak staggering, and support for diverse business models for electricity price settings for more accurate benefit calculations.

The 150K series inverter is designed to meet the evolving demands of the C&I solar market in Africa. Its advanced features, reliability, and scalability make it an ideal solution for commercial and industrial projects of all sizes integrating all you need!

After sale service

Huawei Digital Power Eastern Africa, CEO, Du Geng, says: “Because it is a new product on the market, Huawei takes the responsibility of training partners on how to get the best out of its products.”

Huawei’s C&I enablement project has held more than 30 training sessions involving more than 600 trainees during the first six months of 2024.

“As the first shipment of this product has already sold out, we are eager because we have also developed in-house courses for presales, sales and after sales services for our partners,” said Olivier.
