How cost of university education is set to reduce by 30 percent

Kenya plans to increase enrolment of students to online learning to reduce the cost of university education.

Education Cabinet Secretary Migos Ogamba says the Konza City based Open University of Kenya (OUK)has been tasked with growing the number of student enrolment to 50,000 in the next two years to realise this.

Ogamba acknowledges that high cost of university education is to blame for the tens of students to dropping off every year.

He says Open University of Kenya that received its charter in August 2023, offers quality and accredited E-learning programs at a subsidized cost.

“I have tasked the Open University of Kenya to increase the number of students from the current 3,500 to 10,000 by the end of this year and then to 50,000 by 2026,” said Ogamba.
