Government disburses cash for settling pending bills

The National Treasury has released Kshs 33.3 billion to counties.

National Treasury Principal Secretary Dr. Chris Kiptoo said the funds,  from the equitable revenue share of April, will enable counties to deliver key services to citizens.

The National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) and the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) have received Kshs 11.1 billion and Kshs 10 billion respectively.

“The National Treasury is keen on clearing pending bills promptly to ensure the various government departments function optimally,” he said.

He spoke on Saturday at his office in Nairobi.
