Golfers showcase exceptional talent at NCBA U.S Kids Golf Tour

The U.S. Kids Golf tournament was held at the Royal Nairobi Golf Club, highlighting outstanding performances in both the boys and categories across the various age groups.

This was the fourth leg of the U.S. Kids Golf Nairobi 2024 Spring Tour which teed off in August, coming on the back of successful events at the Limuru Country Club, Vet Lab Sports Club, and the Windsor Golf Hotel & Country Club in that order.

In the Boys 15-18 category, Krish Vadgama topped the leaderboard with a score of 21 over-par to pick 30 points for the day ahead of season’s leader Henry Kung’u Ndirangu who leads the overall standings with 90 points.

For the Girls 13-14, Amani Muriithi clinched the first place with a score of 12 over-par to finish ahead of the girls’ leader in that category Yolanda Yu who hit a stroke more than Muriithi as Lael Mwangale settled for third place.

Andrew Gatheru scored a commendable 4 over-par to finish top the boys 13-14 category, with Wahome Mutahi and Justin Ngeera closely following him on 8 over-par although Mutahi took the second spot on countback.

In the younger divisions, the Girls 11-12 category was topped by Kaelyn Munene despite posting the same score of 10 over-par with Sigian Yu, winning the category on countback.

Meanwhile, the Girls 9-10 and 8 & Under categories were won by Wangari Kabugu and Elizabeth Mwagale, respectively.

Shuhan Peng led the field of boys golfers aged 12, with Guanzhe Wang, Ishaan Patel, Paren Reel, James Tino, Surya Bongu, and Aryan Patel emerging top in the categories of ages 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, and 6 & under.

This tournament was not just a competition but a vibrant showcase of young talent, pushing forward the boundaries of youth sports in Kenya. The success of these young athletes underscores the growing interest and investment in nurturing golf talent from an early age in the region, sentiments echoed by NCBA Group Director of Marketing, Communications, and Citizenship, Nelly Wainaina.

Focus now shifts to Windsor Golf Hotel & Country Club for the fifth leg of the season next week on Sunday, October 6th.
