The Ghana National AfCFTA Coordination Office (NCO), in collaboration with the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), is organizing a Market Entry Expedition into Kenya dubbed “Ghana Expo 2023 – Kenya”.
This market entry expedition is aimed at facilitating Ghanaian businesses’ entry into the East.
The Ghana Expo, scheduled for 23rd -27th May, 2023 at the Aribuko Hall of the Sarit Expo Center, in Nairobi will provide an opportunity for selected Ghanaian companies to explore trade and investment prospects in Kenya, under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
As part of the Ghana Expo, the Ghana Trade House (GTH), located at the Sameer Business Park, Nairobi, will be launched on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.
The Ghana Expo 2023 – Kenya, co-sponsored by World Bank’s Ghana Economic Transformation Project (GETP), the Deutsche Gesellschaftfür International Zusammenarbei (GIZ), and the United Nations Development Project (UNDP), will provide a platform for promoting authentic and quality Made-In-Ghana products to the East African market, using Kenya as the gateway.
The Expo will also provide an avenue for Ghanaian businesses to plug into value chain opportunities in East Africa and vice versa.
Ghana’s Minister for Trade and Industry, Kobina Tahiru Hammond will lead the delegation to Kenya, accompanied by Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei, Dr. Fareed Arthur, National Coordinator of the NCO, Dr. Afua Asabea, CEO of GEPA and other high-level officials of the NCO, Ghana’s Ministry of Trade and Industry (MoTI), and affiliate agencies.
A total of 70 Ghanaian and 20 Kenyan businesses, representing sectors such as agro-processing, beverages, cosmetics, ceramics, cocoa processing, garments, textile, roofing sheets, services, craft, leather, and pharmaceutical will be participating in the Expo.
The Expo will feature a business-to-business engagement format and a four-day trade show to display Ghanaian goods.
In addition to exhibitions, there will be meetings with business associations, seminars, and presentations on strengthening trade relations between Ghana and Kenya.
Trade-support institutions from Ghana and Kenya will also convene to discuss ways to enhance trading between the two countries.
The key collaborating institutions in this joint programme are the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Ghana Export and Import Bank, Association of Ghana Industries, the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce, the Kenyan Ministry of Trade, Investment and Industry and the Kenyan Export Promotion and Branding Agency.
