Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua says the Mt. Kenya region is in the process of forming a political party that will collaborate with other parties to take on President William Ruto during the 2027 polls.
Gachagua says: “Next year, the political movement that will start in this mountain, 2002 will look like a joke.”
He says a strong party is being formed in the Mt. Kenya region that will be bigger than the National Rainbow Coalition (NARC) that successfully ousted the then ruling Kenya African National Union (KANU) party from power in 2002.
Gachagua says the party will form a coalition with other parties in order to win the election.
He says after formation of the political party by those in Mt. Kenya region, “and we shall join other Kenyans to get on the right trajectory and define our destiny.”
The former Deputy President added: “Never again shall any leader take this mountain (Mt. Kenya region) for granted and never shall we again gamble our votes.”
Addressing worshippers at AIPCA Kangari, Kigumo in Murang’a County, the former Deputy President said President Ruto’s true colours became apparent when he allegedly spearheaded his ouster form the second highest office in Kenya.
“Our President, President William Ruto, my friend, did a good thing to bring this fight against me and the people of the mountain now we know him. Now we know you (President Ruto) and we will address you as we know you and who you are. Now we will have talks with respect,” said Gachagua.
Since being ousted as Deputy President, Gachagua has launched attacks and criticised government decisions and actions, accusing it of intimidation, harassment and corruption.
“We as the Mt. Kenya people hate two things; lies and betrayal. This coming January after the talks we will announce the next direction. Never again shall we find ourselves in the hole we are in,” he said.
