The fight against illicit brew and substance abuse being spearheaded by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has received a major boost through a renewed commitment between the agency tasked with coordinating public education and awareness campaign against alcohol, drugs, and substance abuse in the country, (NACADA), and Faith-based organizations in the country.
NACADA and the Association of Pentecostal and Evangelical Clergy of Kenya (APECK) entered into a memorandum of understanding today at the official residence of the Deputy President that will see the two organizations be at the frontline of a thorough campaign against drug and substance abuse.
Religion plays a major role in shaping the society and ridding evil in the society. Speaking while addressing a meeting hosted by his Spouse Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, the Deputy President lauded the faith based organizations for the key role they play in society saying their committment to join hands in the declaration of war against illicit drugs was major and very timely to save the generation from being wiped out.
Gachagua assured the Church that the government will not interfere with the guaranteed right of freedom of worship for any Kenyan and that the Government will continue engaging the Church.
