KCB RFC defeated Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad 47-8 in an entertaining Kenya Cup match at the KCB Sports Club, Ruaraka on Saturday afternoon.
The bankers asserted their dominance in the early stages of the game scoring through Davies Chenge to take a 7-0 lead after a successful conversion by Lionel Ajeliti.
The varsity lads responded by scoring a penalty before Michael Kimwele added another try. Elvis Olukusi forced his way through Blad’s defence to extend KCB’s lead to 19-8 at the break.
“We have improved considerably compared to the last match we played in Nakuru. The boys minimized errors today even though we needed a huge margin win, but I am content with the 47-8 victory. I know the task ahead is still heavy, so we go back to training next week as we prepare for the grueling part of the season,” said KCB RFC Head Coach Curtis Olago.
Bob Muhati touched down his first try of the game early in the second half to give KCB RFC its bonus point try before William Opaka who came on for experienced utility back Darwin Mukidza added another try for the Curtis Olago-led side to make it 33-8.
KCB RFC were handed a penalty try after repeated infringement by Blad at the scrum before Vincent Onyala sealed it for the team at the death.
