Anthony Kipchirchir clocked 1:03:35 to win the 8th edition of the Chemususu Half Marathon held in Baringo County.
The KCB-sponsored race saw Jackson Kipleting emerge second while Emmanuel Bor finished at the third place in timings of 1:04:09 and 1:04:36 respectively.
In the highly contested women category, Catherine Reline floored all her opponents to clinch the top spot recording 1:12:18, Winny Kimutai was second registering 1:14:19 while Edith Chepchumba settled for the third position after registering 1:15:08.
Emmanuel Bor said: “I did not participate in this race last year so, I am extremely delighted to get a podium finish in this year’s edition. The competition was tough owing to Baringo’s terrain and the early morning weather but all in all I am happy with the result. I will talk to my manager about my participation in races to come.”
Winners in both categories were awarded Kshs 250,000, Kshs 150,000 and Kshs 100,000 in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively in the marathon dubbed run to conserve.
This year’s edition was graced by Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, Eldama Ravine Member of Parliament Musa Sirma, Baringo County Governor Benjamin Cheboi among other dignitaries.
