Co-op Bank to boost financial access in South Sudan’s Central Equatoria State

The Governor of Central Equatoria State in South Sudan, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, has met with the leadership of the Co-operative Bank of South Sudan, led by Managing Director Elijah Wamalwa, to discuss expanding banking services across the state.

The meeting at the Governor’s Office in Juba focused on improving access to financial services for cooperative societies, entrepreneurs, and government institutions, with the aim of driving economic growth and enhancing resource mobilisation.

Governor Adil encouraged the bank to roll out comprehensive services to all sectors, positioning financial inclusion as a priority for Central Equatoria.

Wamalwa highlighted that the bank already operates four branches in the state, including Juba, Kololo, Gudele, and Gumbo sub-branch, and reaffirmed the lender’s commitment to supporting public services and state revenue collection through digital banking solutions.

The Co-operative Bank of South Sudan Managing Director invited the Governor to the upcoming Cooperatives Summit in Juba this May, organised by the bank.

The meeting concluded with both parties pledging to deepen collaboration, aiming to expand access to financial resources and promote inclusive growth across Central Equatoria State.

The engagement underscores the Cooperative Bank’s strategic focus on bridging financial gaps while supporting local businesses, government operations, and cooperative societies in South Sudan.
