Kenya shuts its main airport after mourners compromise security

Kenya has temporarily suspended operations at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) after mourners gained access to the air facility after “the arrival of the remains of the late former Prime Minister of Kenya Raila Odinga.”

In a statement, Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) informs the public that a “large number of mourners gained access to restricted areas, prompting a precautionary closure to allow security teams to restore order and ensure safety.”
